Two different titles of Black Belt certificates may be issued by the Pacific Jujitsu Alliance to its members: rank recognition and rank promotion. Black Belt Instructor certificates may also be awarded to members for each specific "board' of instruction.

Rank Recognition Certification:
Those who join the Pacific Jujitsu Alliance will be recognized at the dan rank they have received from a recognized Kodenkan/Danzan Ryu Jujitsu Sensei or organization. The certificate issued by the Pacific Jujitsu Alliance will show the date the member was accepted into the Alliance, the members name and their Black Belt rank. The certificate will indicate that the members rank is being honored as a "Rank Recognition".

Rank Promotion Certification:
Members may choose to take a Pacific Jujitsu Alliance black belt exam. Upon successful completion of a PJA black belt exam, and after approval by the PJA Standards Committee, the member will be awarded a Rank Promotion certificate. The certificate issued by the Pacific Jujitsu Alliance will show the date the member passed his or her exam, the members name and the black belt rank to which they were promoted.

The PJA offers two rank promotion options.  Traditional 5 Black Belt Rank system or Contemporary 10 Dan System.  We allow the Dojo Sensei choose the option that best fits their way of teaching the arts.  The certificate will indicate the members rank is being honored as a "Rank Promotion".  Click here for more detailed information.

Instructor Black Belt Certificates:
Members of the Pacific Jujitsu Alliance who successfully complete an intense course of instruction on any of the "boards" of the Professor Montero versions of Kodenkan Jujitsu will be eligible to receive a specific teaching certificate. Upon demonstrating proficiency and the ability to teach a specific "board", and after approval by the PJA Standards Committee, a member may be eligible to receive an Instructor Black Belt Certificate listing that specific "board". The certificate certifies the member as an instructor of this specific "board" as it is taught and authorized by the Pacific Jujitsu Alliance.
